Pup Trailer Requires Heavy Duty Tow After Rolling Down Highway 38 Shoulder

Mast Brothers recently came to the assistance of a customer in Elkton, Oregon, requiring a heavy duty tow. The customer explained to the dispatcher that their empty pup trailer had veered off the road and rolled down Highway 38’s shoulder. Responding promptly, Mast Brothers dispatched a capable team consisting of two members, along with a rotator and medium duty wrecker, to handle the towing operation. Arriving at the scene, the team observed that the safety chain was the only thing keeping the pup trailer connected to the truck and the first trailer. Also on the scene were the  State Police, ODOT, and Elkton Volunteer Fire Department.

The expert duo got to work quickly and were able to roll the trailer over. Once the trailer was on its wheels, they picked up the entire trailer and swung it over to the road where the medium duty trailer was waiting. Once it was hooked up, it was ready to be towed away!

The entire recovery took the Mast Brothers duo 3 hours to complete. Kudos to the 24 hour heavy towing team for their efficiency and professionalism!

Details of Pup Trailer Requires Heavy Duty Tow After Rolling Down Highway 38 Shoulder

Mast Brothers recently assisted a customer outside of Elkton, OR, with a heavy duty tow. The customer explained to the heavy duty tow dispatcher that for an unknown reason, an empty pup trailer in a set of doubles went off the road. The trailer hit the shoulder and rolled down off the highway.

The customer was located on Highway 38 and realized he needed the professional assistance of Mast Brother for a heavy duty tow. The heavy duty tow dispatcher immediately dispatched two team members, along with a rotator and medium duty wrecker to tow the trailer back.

Once the heavy duty tow team arrived on the scene, they got the rotator in position. They noticed that the only thing holding the pup trailer to the other trailer and truck was the safety chain. The heavy duty tow team member put lines on the pup trailer and used a cut off wheel to cut the safety chain.

After the safety chain was cut, the truck and first trailer were able to pull themselves out of the way. Once that was moved, the heavy duty tow team rigged up lines to the trailer over the side of the road, and they used two 12 inch wide straps to come under the trailer and over top of the trailer to roll it.

The heavy duty tow crew then used secondary winches on the rotator as a catch line. After the trailer was on its wheels, the heavy duty tow expert picked up the whole trailer and swung it over to the road where the medium duty trailer was waiting. Once it was hooked up, the heavy duty tow team towed it away.

The entire heavy duty tow took 3 hours to complete. The State Police, ODOT, and Elkton Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene.
